Weddings at St Mary’s

Many Congratulations on your engagement!

We’re so glad you're thinking about a church wedding, and we would love to walk with you as you prepare to take this step together. At St Mary’s, we believe marriage is a sacred and joyful covenant, and to begin that journey in the presence of God, within the beauty of this ancient church, is something truly special.

We warmly welcome wedding enquiries, and we’ll do all we can to support you in planning a meaningful, personal, and prayerful service.

Can I Get Married at St Mary’s?
As part of the Church of England, we follow certain legal guidelines about where weddings can take place. You’re eligible to be married at St Mary’s if one of you has a connection to the parish. That connection might be:

  • Living in the parish (currently or in the past for at least 6 months)

  • Being baptised or confirmed in the parish

  • Regular attendance at St Mary’s services for at least 6 months

  • A parent who has lived or worshipped here for 6 months

  • A parent or grandparent who was married at St Mary’s

If you're not sure whether you qualify, don’t worry – get in touch and we’ll help work it out with you.

BLESSING OF MARRIAGE OR VOW RENEWALS
Whether you’ve recently had a civil wedding or are celebrating many years together, a service of blessing or vow renewal at St Mary’s can be a beautiful way to mark your love and commitment in the presence of God.

Some couples come after marrying abroad or in a registry office, wanting to bring their union before God in prayer. Others return to the church to give thanks, perhaps on a special anniversary, or after walking through a challenging time together.

These services can be simple or more formal, quiet or full of celebration – always shaped around you, and always centred in God’s grace.

If you’d like to explore the possibility, we’d be glad to talk with you.

Let’s Start the Conversation
Please contact the Parish Office to talk about what’s possible and how we can help. Whether you’re just beginning to think about it or are ready to set a date, we’re here to guide you.
